Featured acid-resistant, austenitic steel is usually seen in the chemical, food processing and construction industries. In case of nitrogen and chemical industries, it is mainly used for heat exchangers, acid tanks, absorption towers, pharmaceutical, paint industry equipment, pump parts and agitators. Speaking of the food industry, it is intended for production of elements exposed to aggressive preservatives (e.g. salt). It is characterized by a very good susceptibility to all known welding methods. In case of resistance to aggressive agents, such as hot petroleum products, grade 321 rises to the challenge. Steel grade 1H18N9T (1.4541) is also resistant to corrosion.
